Tony Brackens was one of the hardest hitters of the 1990s. Brackens earned that reputation while at Fair- field earning him a place on the UIL All-Century team. (Brackens’ nomination did not include any high school statistical or awards information.) Brackens signed with the University of Texas and played three seasons for the Longhorns from 1993-1995. During that time, he was a three-time All-Southwest Confer- ence selection and an All-American defensive end in 1995. He finished his career at Tex- as with 24 sacks. Brackens was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft. He played eight seasons in the NFL, all for the Jaguars. Brackens is the all-time sack leader for the Jacksonville Jaguars with 55 sacks, and he compiled 362 total tackles.
