Cory Redding was named USA Today’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1999 and was a consensus high school All-American. As a senior, he posted 215 tackles for the Mustangs, including 22 for losses. At the University of Texas, Redding started 35 consecutive games on the defensive line and played in every game for four years. He was a two-time All-Big 12 selection and finished his college career with 201 tackles, 53 tackles for losses, including 21 sacks. Redding went on to play 13 seasons in the NFL and was a full-time
starter for the Detroit Lions for five seasons. During his professional career, Redding posted 426 tackles, including 35.5 sacks, 84 tackles for losses, 2 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles.
