Former Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman is transferring to Houston to finish his career playing for Willie Fritz and the Cougars, sources confirm to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. Weigman, who was a four-star Top 10 recruit in the 2022 class at DCTF, was benched halfway through the 2024 season.
Weigman threw for 819 yards and three touchdowns to five interceptions in six appearances for the Aggies in Year 1 of the Mike Elko era. He was replaced by Marcel Reed at halftime of the LSU win and never started again in College Station. Weigman was a two-sport star at Cypress Bridgeland High School.
Injuries were the story of Weigman’s three years at Texas A&M. He played in five games in 2022, four games in 2023, and six games in 2024 – not all of those were starts. Weigman threw for 2,694 yards and 19 touchdowns to seven interceptions over his three seasons in Aggieland.
Houston replaced offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay with Slade Nagle after finishing 4-8 in Year 1 under Fritz. Nagle was the OC at Tulane when Fritz rebuilt that program. He hopes the combination of Nagle and Weigman can unlock a Coogs offense was 127th nationally with nine passing touchdowns. Only Kent State scored fewer than the 14 points averaged by the Houston offense in 2024.
