Fort Bend Hightower 2025 DB Kade Phillips (6'0, 170) committed to Texas over LSU.

Phillips' commitment to Texas was heavily influenced by his official visit, where he had the chance to interact with current players and hear their take on the program.

His player hosts, Derek Williams Jr. and Xavier Filsaime, showcased Texas's benefits on and off the field.

Phillips, who could play any position in the defensive secondary, views his positional versatility as a strength.

Texas has long seen Phillips as a versatile defensive back, valuing his ability to play multiple positions. During his meeting with Texas safeties coach Blake Gideon and cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph, Phillips learned about the Longhorns' plans to utilize his skills at various positions, including corner, nickel, star, and safety.

"It feels like family there with all the recruiters and coaches. I get a great vibe from there. We have a great relationship. They want to see me grow as a player, get better, and come in and compete," Phillips said.

Phillips is ranked as the No. 57 prospect in the 2025 DCTF Rising Hot 100.
