Offensive MVP Adam Hill Locked in with Texas Tech

Albany 2024 RB/LB Adam Hill (6'1, 200) took home Offensive MVP honors after racking up 132 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-10 win in the 2A Division I state title game.

Scouting Report: Hill averaged 5.5 yards per carry. This is a year after he amassed 176 total yards and a touchdown run in the same game. Hill is a bruiser on both sides of the ball and will serve as a Swiss army knife within Joey McGuire’s Red Raider program at the next level. With further development, he could make a difference down the road.

Prospect to Watch: Albany 2026 OL/DL Tristan Howe (6’3, 220) caught some eyeballs today with his size and athleticism amongst the Lions' front line. The big man provides an intriguing build for his age with solid flexibility in his bend. He was an important piece in Albany’s run game that ultimately took the air out of the building in securing a second straight state championship. It seems like every year, one of the small school programs at UIL State provides a linemen prospect that is worth noting. Howe fits the bill in 2023.

Who?! Mike Jones!

Malakoff knocked off Franklin 14-7 in the 3A Division I state title game, and Malakoff 2025 QB/ATH Mike Jones (6’1, 185) took home Offensive MVP honors.

Jones was crucial in Malakoff earning its first-ever state championship, getting the job done on both sides of the ball.

A low scoring grind it out effort against defending two-time champion Franklin, Jones threw two touchdown passes while also completing over 70% of his balls thrown. He also led the Tigers in rushing with 80 tough-nosed yards. Jones is another small school star who could attract attention from the sub-DI levels.

Prospect to Watch: Franklin 2025 RB Jayden Jackson (5’11, 220) punished an opposing defense at UIL State for a second straight year, rushing for 117 hard-earned yards and one score. Jackson showcases solid contact balance and rarely goes down on initial contact from defenders. Even in a losing effort, the 2022 Offensive MVP shined. He reports offers from Texas Tech, Sam Houston State and PVAMU.

The Dodds Showcase Game

Tidehaven 2024 RB Joseph Dodds (6'0, 200) made his case to be moved up in the recruiting rankings following an epic performance in Tidehaven's 30-14 loss.

The big-bodied running back looked the part of a Power Five recruit in the Class 3A Division II championship game.

The Bears preferred one-cut backs with power with Jeff Grimes at offensive coordinator. Dodds, who remains committed since early June, should fit into any offense. He can handle a heavy workload, as exhibited by his 20-plus carries, and showed real burst in a 61-yard touchdown run in the first half.

Dodds was the best player on the field, even in defeat. The Gunter defensive gameplan was centered on stopping him, and the champions could hardly contain him despite eight- and nine-man boxes. He averaged over seven yards a carry and flirted with a 200-yard rushing performance in the loss.
