China Spring 2024 DL/TE Greydon Grimes (6'6, 240) has announced his commitment to play for Baylor over offers from North Texas, Sam Houston, Texas State, UTSA and Louisiana.
"What made me choose Baylor is the culture," Grimes said. "A lot of schools say they want to emphasize person over player, but Baylor really does it. I believe that Baylor is a program that focuses on relationships and developing players in the long run, and that makes it feel like the best fit for me."
Grimes' play on both sides of the football helped China Spring to a 15-1 record and a 24-21 win over Boerne to capture the 4A Division I state championship.
Grimes a versatile player who could project to several positions at the next level, including DE. DT and TE, but was most impactful on the defensive front, securing 62 tackles, four TFLs and seven sacks as a junior.
"Greydon's length and strength allows him to play on the interior and edge along the defensive line." - China Spring head coach Tyler Beatty.
Grimes is the son of Baylor offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes and his brother is sophomore Baylor long-snapper Garrison Grimes, giving him a very unique connection to the Bears.
"It also means so much to have the opportunity to play for my dad at such a high level while also playing alongside my brother and being close to my family," Grimes said.
"Baylor truly just feels like home."
Grimes is rated as DCTF three-star.
