The crew loads up the DCTF Swag Wagon weekly and travels around the state to watch top prospects play in top games.
A Five-Star Sooner?
Name: Jackson Arnold | School: Denton Guyer | Class: 2023 | Pos: QB | HT: 6'1 | WT: 205
Breakdown: The Oklahoma commit continued with a strong start to his senior season, completing 14-of-22 passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns. Arnold has matured physically and has the tools to dominate high school competition. He reads and diagnoses quickly and is exceptionally accurate, fitting the ball into tight windows. He is responsible with the football (10 TDs, 0 INTs) and has a superior command of the Wildcats' fast-paced offense. Arnold is currently rated as the No. 7 prospect in the state, but do not be surprised to see him rise as he is under serious consideration to be a DCTF five-star, which means he would have to be rated as one of the top five prospects in the state.
North Crowley TE is 'HIMpton'
Name: Ka’Morreun Pimpton | School: North Crowley | Class: 2023 | Pos: TE | HT: 6'5 | WT: 210
Breakdown: Pimpton, a Vanderbilt commit has shown incredible growth over the past year as a route runner and with his size and leaping ability he can be an incredibly difficult matchup. He was outstanding in the Panthers win Thursday over Lovejoy running a variety of routes, displaying great hands and high-pointing the football making several contested catches. If he continues to improve, don't be surprised if schools try and pull him away from Vandy.
Not All Offense in Lovejoy
Name: Payton Pierce | School: Lovejoy | Class: 2024 | Pos: LB | HT: 6'1 | WT: 225
Breakdown: Most of the attention at Lovejoy is on their four dynamic WR's, but Pierce is a big-time prospect in his own right. The junior LB played his first game of the season Thursday after battling mono and despite shaking off rust displayed the instincts and physicality that make him a prototype linebacker. He posted 13 tackles, 3 TFL, and one sack in his 2022 debut. Pierce is big enough to stand up to playing on the inside against interior linemen but is fluid and athletic in space and comfortable tracking receivers and backs on short routes.
Red Oak DB One of the State's Best
Name: Warren Roberson | School: Red Oak | Class: 2023 | Pos: CB | HT: 6'0 | WT: 180
Breakdown: Roberson had the unenviable task of matching up with the No. 1 WR Micah Hudson, and it was a battle every rep. Roberson has the look of an elite defensive back. He is strong and thick in the upper body, which allows him to finish tackles. Still, he is slim and narrow in the lower half, enabling him to have the type of mobility and agility required to turn and run up the field with receivers without losing a step. Roberson showcased his overall athleticism and speed on offense, where he secured a 73-yard touchdown pass. On offense, he is averaging 31 yards per touch. Long story short, he is a dude.
Guyer WR Shedding Sleeper Status
Name: Landon Sides | School: Denton Guyer | Class: 2023 | Pos: S | HT: 5'11 | WT: 170
Breakdown: Sides is Arnold's favorite target and one of the state's best sleepers. He had five receptions for 148 yards and returned a kickoff 52 yards for a score. Sides is smart, runs good routes, and has dependable hands, but he was able to showcase burst and explosion on the return against one of the state's most athletic teams in Lancaster. Sides has offers from Army, UIW and Colorado School of Mines. He has a visit scheduled with Army for October 23rd. Someone will be getting a steal.
Red Oak Sophomore a Ball of Energy
Name: Taz Williams | School: Red Oak | Class: 2025 | Pos: WR | HT: 5'11 | WT: 170
Breakdown: Williams had four receptions for 27 yards and returned a kick 85 yards for a score. What immediately jumped out was his speed and explosiveness. I also believe he has grown and added some good weight to his frame since we last verified his measurements back in January. He is a young prospect on a team loaded with offensive weapons, but he is going to be a star. Willaims already has offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Penn State.
Texas Tech Commit Sees Limited Reps
Name: Anquan Willis | School: Wichita Falls Rider | Class: 2023 | Pos: ATH | HT: 6'0 | WT: 220
Breakdown: Willis, a Texas Tech commit, is listed as an athlete and where he lands position-wise at the next level is a mystery. Willis runs hard on offense and did not go down on first contact, but he doesn't appear to be a natural at that position. Willis didn't get a chance to play on the defensive side of the ball as he got injured late in the first quarter.
Aggressive West Texas Defender has the Look
Name: Cam Manaham | School: Lubbock Coronado | Class: 2023 | Pos: CB | HT: 5'11 | WT: 165
Breakdown: Manaham, who holds offers from Missouri, UTSA and Texas State, is a long and athletic corner with breakaway speed and major position versatility that will be an asset at the next level. He's dynamic in the return game and quick twitch enough to handle smaller and quicker receivers while big enough to win one-on-one battles with big receivers. He's not afraid to stick his nose in the box and provide run support either.
