Baylor landed a commitment from four-star Lindale 2021 RB Jordan Jenkins (6'1, 200) on Saturday.
Jenkins picked the Bears over offers from BYU, Texas Tech, UTSA, Arkansas, Tennessee, USC, Kansas and Vanderbilt.
"Baylor isn't that far from home," Jenkins said at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 in Dallas. "That is a really big thing, staying in-state for me, and not being that far away."
Jenkins rushed for 1,422 yards and 27 touchdowns as a junior in 2019, securing District Offensive MVP, All-District, and Honorable Mention All-State honors.
On the field, Jenkins is looking to punish defenders.
"Hitting people," Jenkins quickly answered when asked about his favorite thing to do on the field. "Last year, when I played, I would go towards people to hit. And I had to stop going to do that because I would actually get tackled because of it."
"I'm a downhill runner, and I'm not afraid of any contact. I have really good speed for my size, and I know the game very well."
Baylor is getting a thoughtful and respectful student-athlete in Jenkins, who is looking forward to his final year in a Lindale jersey in 2020.
"I love my teammates, my coaches, and community," Jenkins said. "The game of football has brought me everything I could ever want."
Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Jenkins is a bigger-bodied back who is a well-rounded football player. He is an excellent return man and can catch the football coming out of the backfield. Jenkins is hard to bring down in the open field and has enough speed to take it the distance.
