Head coach William Blaylock's first season at Cy-Ranch was a success, guiding the Mustangs to an 8-4 record and a second-place district finish after going 6-5 the year before. With momentum building, Cy-Ranch enters the 2025 season focused on a district title and features some of the Houston area's top recruits.

Class of 2026

LB Calvin Thomas (6'3, 210): Bill Belichick probably got a big smile on his face when Thomas announced his intentions to commit to North Carolina, because he is a highly versatile linebacker who has steadily been climbing up recruiting boards powered by a 2024 season that saw him rack up 69 tackles, 8.5 TFLs and seven sacks. His athleticism and speed are well noted, as he was a regional qualifier in the 300 meters. UNC fans should be equally excited about the energy and relentless nature he brings to the field. Coach Blaylock has often highlighted those traits when discussing Thomas' skills.

LB Ayden Combs (6'3, 220): Wearing #44, Combs looks like a throwback linebacker, but his skills are more well-rounded. He is excellent off the edge, as his 16 TFLs and eight sacks verify. He uses his hands well to redirect and can dip under blocks to secure tackles. He's adequate in coverage, which helps show off his football IQ. North Texas has already secured a commitment from this newly crowned DCTF three-star.

ATH William Blaylock II (6'3, 220): Blaylock is a versatile athlete with the size and skill to contribute on both sides of the ball. He earned All-State honors as a tight end in 2024, but will add EDGE responsibilities as a senior, giving him the chance to showcase his full toolset. The Prairie View A&M commit is the son of Cy-Ranch head coach William Blaylock and already holds a DCTF three-star rating heading into his senior season.

DE Quincy Tchikou (6'3, 235): Despite having just two years of football under his belt, Tchikou has made a quick impact with his burst off the edge in Cy-Ranch's 3-man front. Coach Blaylock describes the Rice commit as having "freaky athletic ability," and his raw tools give him real developmental upside that the Owls' staff will be eager to refine.

RB Peyton Thomas (5'9, 190): This McNeese State commit was the focal point of the offense last season, collecting over 1,000 all-purpose yards and scoring 10 times. He's tough in the middle of the field and can run through arm tackles.

Class of 2027

DE Amari Vickerson (6'4, 290): Football runs through Vickerson's veins as he is the son of former NFLer Kevin Vickerson who starred at Michigan State before heading to the league. The Spartans have already offered, including 34 other college teams, including Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and more. His wingspan is massive and his size makes him a chess piece on the defensive front, capable of creating mismatches from multiple alignments.

QB Braden Baker (6'5, 180): Baker brings rare size and has already caught offers from Baylor, Houston, UTSA and Louisiana Tech. He's a true pocket passer with just enough wheels to threaten defenses in an RPO-heavy system. His back-shoulder fade is smooth and accurate, and he throws with great touch on intermediate routes. A multi-sport athlete (football, basketball, track), Baker's athleticism adds even more upside to his projection.

DB Jacob Lee (5'11", 170): It is an understatement that Lee had a breakout season in 2024, as he was the District Newcomer of the Year in both football and baseball. Lee has already been rewarded with offers from Western Kentucky and Miami (OH).

WR Manny Leyja (6'2, 185): A dependable target in the passing game who collected 35 receptions for 364 yards and six scores as sophomore to earn second-team all-district honors. Western Kentucky has already served him up with an offer, but don't be surprised if he has a breakout season in 2025.

ATH/DB Malik Johnny (6'0, 165): The staff feels like Johnny could develop into a P4-level defensive back and he concentrated his efforts on the secondary throughout a successful camp season with stops at Baylor, Texas Tech, SFA and Oklahoma. He also participated in the UA next camp in Houston.

More Names to Know: DB Caleb Clack (6'0, 190), WR Derrick McCullar (5'9, 155), OL Kaleb Murphy (6'4, 250), P/K Nathaniel Carrier (5'9, 160), WR John Fox III (5'10, 165), WR Josh Richards Jr. (5'7, 145)

OL R'Monie Edwards (6'6, 290): Edwards is already one of the most heavily recruited prospects in Texas in 2028 with over 15 scholarship offers, including Baylor, Houston, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech. Coach Blaylock describes Edwards as an "athletic OL with great feet and a mean streak." Edwards thrived on the varsity team as a freshman, playing left tackle and demonstrating the ability to secure blocks in space. His play helped him earn a spot on the DCTF Rising magazine Top 25 in 2028.

RB Khristian White (5'11, 190): One of the more exciting young prospects in the program, White is listed with 4.4 40-yard speed, and he was a Junior Olympic sprinter. UTSA has already offered.

More Names to Know: DL Arnell Havies (6'3, 240), WR Quincy Masha (5'8, 150), QB Brock Dorsey (6'1, 160), DB Parker Pierce (6'1, 155), OL Brayden Crawford (6'6, 255), LB Kaiden Williams (5'11, 200), DB David Crosby (5'10, 150), LB Ethan Marlitz (5'11, 200), RB Alexander Jesus Burgos-Inglesias (5'7, 160), WR Parker Legh-Page (5'10, 155)
