Which Former TXHSFB Player in 2025 NFL Draft will have Best Career?
GREG POWERS
Donovan Jackson dominated at guard and tackle. His power, consistency, work ethic and versatility project long-term NFL stability.
ASHLEY PICKLE
There are few high school football players I've enjoyed watching more than Matthew Golden. He was a beast at Klein Cain, the heart and soul of the Houston Cougars in 2022 & 2023, and obviously needed no introduction at Texas. He is small in stature but his speed, eye for the seam is exceptional and kick return ability is next to none. Cole Beasley 2.0 in the works if they can protect him.
GREG TEPPER
Shemar Turner was a monster at DeSoto. Shemar Turner was a monster at Texas A&M. What makes you think Shemar Turner won't be a monster in the NFL?
ISHMAEL JOHNSON
Future Tennessee Titans Super Bowl winning quarterback Cam Ward.
MATT STEPP
Ollie Gordon, Euless Trinity. Gordon won't get talked about much because of Ashton Jeanty, but he's been incredibly productive at every level he's played in and I think his style fits the NFL game well.
CORY HOGUE
Cam Ward. The man has had to fight for everything throughout his entire career from high school through college, so he has the work ethic, chip on his shoulder, and physical and mental abilities to be one of the greatest QBs ever.
CARTER YATES
I don't care how long his arms are, Kelvin Banks Jr. was a three-time All-American at Texas who'll experience similar success in the NFL. Whether he lines up at guard or tackle, Banks can step in as an immediate starter like he did with the Longhorns. In his first season in Burnt Orange, he faced third overall NFL Draft pick Will Anderson, Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Felix Anudike-Uzomah and First Round pick Will McDonald IV and gave up zero sacks. Don't overcomplicate this!
MIKE CRAVEN
Kelvin Banks. His floor is higher than any other player from Texas. He’ll play for 10-15 years in the league as a tackle of guard. The bust possibility simply doesn’t exist unless injuries hamper his career.
GAVIN MORITZ
Would I be a bad fellow alum of Humble ISD if I didn’t pick Summer Creek’s Kelvin Banks Jr.? In all seriousness, I feel incredibly confident that the former Texas Longhorn will immediately improve any NFL offensive line from day one after making 42 starts in Austin over three seasons. Go ahead and lock-in Banks as a future All-Pro courtesy of your favorite DCTF draft nerd.
WILLIAM WILKERSON
Here's a surprise pick for you - former Prosper and Texas Longhorns star Jake Majors. You can define "best" in many different ways, one of which is longevity. I think Majors could play for years and years as the centerpiece of a franchise's offensive line. He left Texas having started in a program-record 56 career starts. He's as smart as they come and proved plenty capable of holding his own against SEC defensive linemen, which will obviously translate well to Sundays.
