The Texas Longhorns were quiet in the winter transfer portal as head coach Steve Sarkisian spent most of his time prepping for playoff games instead of bolstering the roster for 2025. He knew the spring portal window would allow him to go shopping for reinforcements after he watched spring practices. He’s done exactly that over the last few days as his Horns have added multiple potential starters on both sides of the ball since the portal reopened last week.
The first addition in the spring was Stanford wide receiver Emmett Mosley V, who caught 48 passes for 525 yards and six touchdowns as a true freshman at Stanford. He recorded 13 catches for 168 yards and three scores in a win over Louisville on Nov. 16. He was listed at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds.
Late in the week, the Horns added kicker Mason Shipley (Texas State), tight end Jack Endries (Cal) and defensive lineman Lavon Johnson (Maryland) to the mix. Shipley is a Liberty Hill native who was a first-team All-Sun Belt selection last season after hitting 15-of-19 field goals, including a 60-yarder against Sam Houston. He’ll replace Bert Auburn, who joined the portal last week.
Endries is a junior who will help the Longhorns replace Gunnar Helm’s departing production. Endries caught 56 passes for 623 yards and two scores last year. He’s averaged over 11 yards a catch in two seasons with the Golden Bears. Johnson was signed with North Carolina before switching his portal commitment to the Horns. He’ll provide depth on the interior of the defensive line.
