Houston safety A.J. Haulcy added his name to the transfer portal hours after participating in the team’s spring game. Haulcy, a junior from Fort Bend Marshall, was a first-team All-Big 12 safety last year after finishing second on the team in tackles (74) and tied for the conference lead in interceptions (5). He broke up 13 passes and led the team in tackles in three different games.

Haulcy arrived at Houston ahead of the 2023 season after starting his college career at New Mexico. He started all 12 games in 2023 and was a Big 12 Conference honorable mention Defensive Newcomer of the Year. He was set to start again for the Coogs in 2025.

LSU transfer Jordan Allen is the likely replacement for Haulcy at the boundary safety position. He spent the last three season in Baton Rouge and compiled two starts in 16 career games.
