The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference will use a different approach to determine its conference champion in 2025. Sources have confirmed that every team in the SCAC will play its final regular season game on the same day inside historic War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Ark. 

The games on November 15 will begin with the fifth and sixth-place teams in the standings, followed by a contest between the teams occupying third and fourth place. The day will finish with the top two teams battling to secure a conference championship.

“We are excited to offer all six of our football-playing institutions an opportunity to compete at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas, in the fall of 2025,” SCAC Commissioner Dwayne Hanberry said in a statement to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. “A regular season ending Saturday filled with great football action at an SEC-level venue, culminating with the conference championship game between the league’s top two teams, will create an incredible memory for our student-athletes, coaches, and fans.”

The SCAC will have six teams for the 2025 season, with Hendrix joining the conference. However, continuing this format in 2026 will depend on adding one more team to the conference. McMurry and Schreiner will depart the SCAC and return to the American Southwest Conference in July 2026. 

Should the conference add one more institution that sponsors football, the championship weekend in 2026 will also determine who receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Last year, the conference utilized a double round-robin format to determine its champion. Texas Lutheran and McMurry finished tied atop the standings, with the Bulldogs claiming the conference title due to winning the tiebreaker scenario. TLU received an at-large bid to the playoffs but exited after a first-round defeat at Linfield.
