Spring ISD on Thursday posted an opening for the head coaching job at Spring High School, marking the end of Antonio Singleton's three-year tenure where the Lions posted a combined 14-18 record, with playoff appearances in 2023 and 2024.

Singleton, who was promoted to head coach in 2022 after Trent Miller departed for the head football job at Willis, inherited a rebuilding program that was gutted from graduation after back-to-back trips to the regional finals in 2020 and 2021.

The Lions, who have posted a 5-6 record the past two years, compete in District 14-6A with fellow Spring ISD programs Westfield and DeKaney along with five high schools from Aldine ISD.

There’s been no official comment regarding the opening from Spring ISD Athletics or Singleton, but rumors had been circulating for the past week or so that the Spring job would be posted.

With the late timing of the move, Spring may choose to pass on participating in spring football this May to allow the new head coach to have extra time in the fall to prepare for the 2025 campaign.
