Our staff at Dave Campbell's Texas Football has been to A LOT of Texas high school football stadiums. A LOT. But that got us thinking: Which stadiums would we most want to check off our bucket list? Below are our staff picks.
Speaking of TXHSFB Stadiums, make sure to vote for your favorite stadium in our "2025 DCTF Stadium Bracket Challenge."

DCTF TXHSFB STADIUM BUCKET LIST CHOICES
TREVOR BULLARD
"No. 1 on my Bucket List for Texas High School Football Stadium is Jones in El Paso. Reason Being, the Vibes in El paso look unmatched from food to people. The view of the mountains from photos looks like the best in the state."
MIKE CRAVEN
"R.R. Jones Stadium in El Paso is a piece of history I’ve failed to encounter in my travelings around the state of Texas. Jones was the first major concrete stadium in the country when it was built in 1916 and is considered the birthplace of Friday Night Lights in Texas in 1928. El Paso High School was on the road both weekends I’ve been in the Sun City for a UTEP football game. A major bummer."
MALLORY HARTLEY
"My bucket list stadium is Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, home to Odessa and Permian High School. For true Texas high school football fans, this stadium should be on everyone’s bucket list as it’s featured in the book and movie, "Friday Night Lights."
CORY HOGUE
"The Tomato Bowl. I’m a man who enjoys modern amenities and some history. The Tomato Bowl has become a must-see because of its history, unique design, and recent remodel, which solves my first-world issues."
ISHMAEL JOHNSON
"Puncherdome. There are probably bigger stadiums that are traditionally “nicer” and more modern, but there’s something different about a small stadium that will get filled during a good game and that has a look as unique as Mason’s."
DREY MATULA
"Prosper ISD Children's Health Stadium. It's probably one of the few stadiums that I haven't personally been to."
GAVIN MORITZ
"Having already visited hundreds of Texas stadiums, if I had to pick one to cross off next on my bucket list, it would be Celina's Bobcat Stadium. Celina's stadium itself looks incredible in photos/videos, and I'm 100% certain the gameday atmosphere would be even more impressive in-person."
ASHLEY PICKLE
"Ratliff Stadium in Odessa. When it comes to must-see stadiums I feel like I've seen a game in most all of them, thanks to my time spent as a sideline reporter, but the one massive hole in my game is Ratliff Stadium in Odessa. The home of Friday Night Lights feels like one you can't go without experiencing at least once."
GREG POWERS
"Jones Stadium in El Paso. I’ve never had the opportunity to watch a game there, but it’s one of the oldest stadiums in the state, rich with history. The stunning views and gameday atmosphere make it seem like an incredible place to experience a TXHSFB game."
MATT STEPP
"Puncherdome in Mason. I've been to A LOT of TXHSFB stadiums (289 to be exact), but the Puncherdome is my white whale. It's the one that's still missing; the aura, the uniqueness and tradition of the Puncherdome makes it a bucket list stadium."
GREG TEPPER
"CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium, Tyler. The stadium of record in football-crazy East Texas, Rose Stadium is more than 80 years old but you wouldn’t know it thanks to a diligent renovation effort. The 10,000 seat palace gets rocking on a Friday night for Tyler and Tyler Legacy, and is a frequent playoff host, with players hoping to leave their mark like Earl Campbell did years ago — which is why the field is named after him."
WILLIAM WILKERSON
"I'm going with Allen's Eagle Stadium. While I live in the DFW Metroplex, I've never taken in a game at the $60 million palace. I'd love to see the crowd for a high stakes Friday night game. Allen's band itself would be a sight given it's about the size of my high school just south of San Antonio."
CARTER YATES
"My TXHSFB Bucket List Stadium is Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, Texas, home of the Permian Panthers. The Friday Night Lights book and movie were huge inspirations in becoming a football writer. I'd love to see the stadium where those stories were told."
