Denton ISD on Tuesday night named Florida Atlantic WR Coach David Beaty as the next head football coach at Denton High. Beaty, who returns to TXHSFB after nineteen years in the college game replaces Billy Miller who stepped down from his post shortly after the end of the regular season.
Beaty is well known in the college game where he’s best known for a stint as the head coach at Kansas from 2015-2018. Beaty also spent time at Texas, Texas A&M, Kansas, Rice and Florida Atlantic as an assistant, along with a time in the professional ranks with the Houston Roughnecks in the USFL. He was well known as an ace recruiter in Texas so he’s still very familiar with the TXHSFB scene.
Beaty has experience as a head coach in Texas as from 2001-2005 he served as head coach for one season at North Dallas and four seasons at Irving MacArthur posting an impressive 39-15 record.
In a press release from Denton ISD Coach Beaty said, “My family and I are honored to be at Denton High School,” Coach Beaty said. “This is an unbelievable school district. I am blown away by the quality of people here, and it is the people in an organization that make a place special. We are ready to roll up our sleeves and get going.”
Beaty will look to turn a struggling Denton High program around that posted a 2-8 record in 2024.
