North Texas quarterback Chandler Morris is entering the Transfer Portal, per a report from The Athletic's Sam Khan Jr.
In one season at North Texas, Morris led the American Athletic Conference with 3,774 passing yards and 31 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. The Mean Green finished atop the conference with 488.7 total yards per game. He finished third in program history for passing yards on the season, just 199 yards shy of Mason Fine's record in 2018. His 4,016 yards of total offense was second all-time for a single season, again behind Fine (4,068 in 2017).
This will be Morris's fourth school in his college career. The former state champion at Highland Park redshirted in 2020 at Oklahoma and twice won the starting quarterback job at TCU before his sole season in Denton.
North Texas plays Texas State in the SERVPRO First Responders Bowl on January 3rd. Austin Vandegrift product Drew Mestemaker has come on in relief of Morris this season. Former China Spring state champion Cash McCollum is also in the room.
