Former five-star Micah Hudson is transferring from Texas Tech after a lackluster true freshman campaign in Lubbock. The Lake Belton product, and former Rising coverboy, arrived in Lubbock battling through injury and never was healthy enough to break through a crowded Red Raider wide receiver room that was led by Josh Kelly.
Hudson played in eight games in 2024, catching eight passes for 123 yards and zero touchdowns. He last played on Oct. 26 at TCU. His best game was a three-catch, 43-yard performance in an early-season blowout of North Texas. He failed to record a catch in three of eight games he participated in this year.
Despite the shaky first year as a collegiate, the suitors won’t be short for the 6-foot, 195-pound playmaker. He was the No. 1 recruit in Texas for the 2024 class. His skills and upside didn’t disappear and a new start might help him realize that potential. Inside the state, programs like Texas A&M need help on the outside. He was recruited by virtually every major program as a prep star.
