Lufkin (10-1) vs College Station (10-1), 7 p.m. Friday at New Caney’s Randall Reed Stadium:
Lufkin, fresh off a 63-14 rout of Houston Milby last week, will look to keep its 10-game winning streak alive as the Panthers take on perennial contender College Station in one of the top games in the state this week.
The Panthers obliterated Milby on Saturday by scoring 35 first quarter points, which turned into a running clock for the second half. QB Quincy Coutee had three first half touchdown passes and the ferocious Lufkin defense dominated while the starters were in the game.
College Station opened the playoffs in style with 41-10 win over Crosby last week. QB Cade Corcoran tossed four touchdown passes in the win, three going to RB Ayden Martinez-Brown.
Lufkin’s defense, led by LSU DT commit Zion Williams, is a handful and that group is the key for the Panthers being a real contender to get to AT&T Stadium in 2024.
