The sensational rise of the Texas Wesleyan football program took another step forward on Sunday. When the NAIA bracket was revealed, the Rams were officially announced as postseason participants for the first time since the program was started in 2017.
Texas Wesleyan earned the eighth seed in the bracket after steamrolling opponents to secure their third straight Sooner Athletic Conference title and first outright championship in program history. The Texas Wesleyan offense averages 59.9 points per game, which would break the NAIA record of 58.9 set by Morningside (IA) in 2015.
Texas Wesleyan head coach Brad Sherrod is in his first season after Joe Prud’homme resigned last spring. Sherrod inherited a program on solid ground and propelled the Rams to the next level this season. Sherrod was named head coach after serving as an assistant coach at UTSA under Jeff Traylor and Sam Houston under K.C. Keeler.
