Texas Longhorns sophomore wide receiver Johntay Cook II is no longer with the Texas football program. Inside Texas was the first to report.

Cook was a five-star recruit out of DeSoto High School in the Class of 2023, the No.4-overall recruit in the Dave Campbell's TexasFootball Hot 100. He compiled 2,965 receiving yards and 50 touchodwns over his final three high school seasons, winning the state championship as a senior.

But Cook didn't put up those gaudy stats in a season-and-a-half with the Longhorns. He finished his freshman season with eight catches for 136 yards, and was thought to take over Xavier Worthy's role until Steve Sarkisian Portaled three wide receivers (Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden and Silas Bolden). This season, he's caught eight passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns, but hasn't caught a pass since the Mississippi State game on September 28th, Meanwhile, fellow sophomore DeAndre Moore Jr. has exploded for two multi-touchdown games, and five-star freshman Ryan Wingo is fourth on the team in receiving.

This is a developing story.
