Humble Atascocita (4-0, 1-0) vs Humble Summer Creek (4-0, 1-0):
It’s not just the game of the week in the Houston area, but quite possibly the state's top game as we get a top 10 6A matchup between Humble ISD rivals in 23-6A play.
No. 8 Atascocita has among the best resumes in all of the state as the Eagles own road wins over Austin Westlake and Katy. The Eagles opened up district play in style last week with a 54-7 win over C.E. King. Oklahoma RB commit Tory Blaylock ran wild in the victory with six touchdowns and the Eagles defense totally stymied an explosive King attack.
Speaking of lockdown defenses, no defense has been as good as Summer Creek early in the year as in four games, the Bulldogs have allowed a total of ZERO points, outscoring teams 215-0. It’s a bold strategy, but it seems to work - just not allowing a single point! Last week Summer Creek ripped past Channelview 59-0 as QB Blake Thomas tossed four touchdown passes and ran for another score in the win.
Both of these defensive units are capable of grabbing headlines. The key in this battle is which offense can make plays in key moments? Atascocita has more big names, but there’s something special brewing with this Summer Creek squad and the Bulldogs make a big statement this week with a win.
