Celina (4-0) at Frisco Panther Creek (4-0):

4A-Division I No. 2 takes on No. 3 in an absolutely fascinating showdown to open 7-4A Division I play.

A year ago, Panther Creek knocked off Celina in district game in a matchup that served notice that the Panthers would be a factor statewide in 4A-Division I. Celina’s been absolutely dominant to open the year. Last week the Bobcats dismantled 3A-Division I powerhouse Franklin, 59-21, in a game that was 52-7 at the half. The Bobcats got five touchdown passes from QB Bowe Bentley, while RB’s Harrison Williams, Preston Chartier and Logan Gutierrez combined for 180 yards on the ground.

Panther Creek blasted Kennedale 42-3 last week as WR Jalen Lott tallied two receiving touchdowns and ran for another score. If you pay too much attention to Lott, WR Cristian Trickett is fully capable of doing damage.

Panther Creek’s dynamic passing game is the type of offense that typically gives Celina’s aggressive defense trouble, but can Panther Creek’s front seven hold up against the big Celina offensive line and punishing rushing attack? This is a total toss-up game, but I’ll give the edge to Panther Creek because the game is on the fast track indoors at the Ford Center.
