The CW Network interviewed WWE star Trick Williams to open the second half of the Iron Skillet game between TCU and SMU. Moments later, TCU head coach Sonny Dykes had a heel turn that would've made Williams jealous.

SMU held a commanding 41-21 lead out of the break with three non-offensive touchdowns, the most since 2012. TCU responded with one of its own on the first play of the third quarter when Jordyn Bailey returned the kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. Before Bailey crossed the end zone, Dykes was sprinting down the sidelines with his arms in the air, indignant at a holding call on Kaleb Elarms-Orr.

Part of the reason Dykes was so frustrated was the delayed toss of the flag. He let the sideline official hear about it while TCU strength and conditioning coach Kaz Kazadi attempted to hold him back. Officials then announced an unsportsmanlike conduct foul, 'on the TCU head coach,' which prompted an uproar from Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Dykes was SMU's head coach for five seasons before opting to take the TCU head coaching job.

"Man, that's tight, I don't blame Sonny for getting pissed on that one," analyst Max Browne said after looking at a replay of the return.

After Savion Williams took a short pass past the 30-yard-line, officials again stopped play to issue a second unsportsmanlike conduct foul on Dykes, who'd continued jawing at the official during the first offensive play. 

Dykes spoke with the referees for an extended period before taking the long walk back to the TCU locker room. Before he exited the field, he pumped his fists toward a booing SMU crowd.

The ejection encapsulated a frustrating afternoon for Dykes, who saw his team commit eight penalties for 70 yards while coaching in front of a record crowd in the SMU student section.  

TCU scored a touchdown on the drive while offensive coordinator Kendal Briles assumed head coaching duties.
