Groce a Modern-Era Offensive Weapon

2026 Frisco Lone Star ATH Davion Groce (6'1, 190) burst onto the scene as a running back in his freshman season, but he has developed into Lone Star's offensive jack of all trades. He scored on a touchdown run out of the backfield and caught two touchdown passes when split out wide. It's easy to see why programs like SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee have offered, and he is already listed on the DCTF five-star watchlist. - Greg Powers

Southlake's New Man Under Center

Southlake has leaned on running back duo Riley Wormley and Davis Penn through the first three games while new starter 2026 QB Angelo Renda (6'0, 180) settles in. But when the defenses load the box, Renda has proved lethal through the air. The junior is completing 76 percent of his passes with a 7-to-1 TD to INT ratio. He picked up a new offer from Jacksonville State following this week's win over Trophy Club Byron Nelson. - Carter Yates

Ball a Versatile Texas High Weapon

Texas High 2026 Tradarian Ball (5'10, 175), who committed to Oregon before the season started, is one of the state's most dynamic players with the ball in his hands. He is the football version of a "five-tool player." He lines up at RB, WR and returns kicks for the Tigers and showed ability at all three positions. He nearly returned a kickoff for a touchdown before an ankle tackle tripped him up. He made an elite cut to daylight and displayed elite sprinter speed on a 61-yard touchdown run and displayed above average hands and route running in space catching two passes for 28 yards in the Tigers 51-13 win over Midlothian Heritage. - Matt Stepp

Bentley Dominates Battle of 289

2026 Celina QB Bowe Bentley (6'2, 190) racked up over 350 yards of total offense and scored four touchdowns in a 38-7 win over Gunter in the renewed Battle of 289, which was played for the first time in 25 years on Friday. Bentley, who holds an offer from Sam Houston, has a quick trigger and the ability to put the ball on the money in the passing game and is athletic enough to keep defenses honest. He has already racked up 894 total yards of offense and scored 12 times this season. - Greg Powers

Freshman Thrower Answers the Call

2028 QB Jaxon Schad (5'11, 165) was pressed into the starter's role after an injury to starting QB Jax Brown in the Wolves pre-season scrimmage. The freshman star already holds Houston and North Texas offers. Schad showed outstanding toughness and moxie in the Wolves tough 25-19 defeat to A&M Consolidated in a state ranked showdown Thursday night. Facing a varied and relentless pass rush, Schad bounced back from four first half inteceptions with a strong second half, nearly leading Weiss to a comeback from a 17-point deficit. He displayed good arm talent, pocket presence and the ability to move around when needed, there's a lot to like and plenty of upside with Schad as long as he continues to physically mature. - Matt Stepp
