Carthage (1-1) at Tyler Chapel Hill (3-0): Chapel Hill’s non-district gauntlet continues this week as the No. 2 Bulldogs (4A Division I) tangle with the state's top-ranked 4A Divison II team from Carthage. Carthage bounced back nicely from a season-opening loss to Kilgore by taking its frustration out on Texarkana Liberty-Eylau with a 58-20 win. Junior QB Jett Surratt tossed three touchdown passes, and junior RB KJ Edwards ran for 180 yards and three touchdowns on just six carries as Carthage dominated from start to finish. Chapel Hill escaped Whitehouse with a rivalry game win over the Wildcats, 21-19. Chapel Hill trailed 13-0 at the half but dominated the second half by outscoring Whitehouse 21-6 in the second half. Texas RB commit Ricky Stewart was the difference for Chapel Hill with three rushing touchdowns. Both of these offensive units are absolute flame throwers, but Carthage is a bit more well rounded with balance on offense and one of the best defensive front sevens in 4A.
