One of the more intense rivalries in the state that no one talks about is Edna and Bay City. Despite being a much smaller school than their neighbors 40 miles to the east, Edna always gives Bay City fits. Last week, Edna survived Vanderbilt Industrial, 38-35, as Braylon Harris had two long touchdown runs and also hauled in a touchdown pass for the Cowboys. Bay City, who is in the state rankings at the 4A-Division I level, opened up the season with an easy 62-34 win. WR Xylan Williams, a Temple commit, returned a punt for a touchdown, a kickoff for a touchdown, had a touchdown reception and also threw a touchdown pass on a trick play. The Blackcats' defense struggled against the physical rushing attack of Sweeny and will need to get that cleaned up as Edna has a physical mentality. Edna will try to slow things down and keep that explosive Bay City attack off the field.
