Cibolo Steele (1-0) at San Antonio Reagan (1-0)

The Alamo City's two state-ranked 6A teams hook up in a Saturday night showdown for local bragging rights. Steele rolled past Liberty Hill, 49-26, last week in a game that really wasn’t that close. The Knights led 49-14 after three and played their backups in the fourth quarter. All the stars for Steele got into the act with QB Chad Warner throwing for 258 yards and four touchdowns, Oklahoma commit RB Jonathan Hatton going for 124 yards and three scores, SMU commit WR Jalen Cooper hauling in three touchdown passes and Oklahoma State commit WR Royal Capell racking up 117 yards receiving and a touchdown. Steele’s young secondary was untested against a Slot-T offense in Liberty Hill last week, but they’ll get put to the test this week against a potent Reagan attack. The Rattlers were impressive last week while dismantling San Antonio Brennan, 31-9. QB Jack Bingham threw for 145 yards and two scores, while RB Cole Pryor, an Air Force commit, ran for 137 yards and a score. Both offenses were in midseason form last week, and I don’t expect much different this week. But in a shootout, I’m giving the nod to Steele, who has the goods to once again contend in Region IV.
