Baylor is set to name Toledo transfer quarterback Dequan Finn its starting quarterback for Week 1 of the 2024 season, sources tell Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. Finn beat out Sawyer Robertson for the starting job behind center in new offensive coordinator Jake Spavital’s offense.

Finn arrived in the spring after playing 45 games over five seasons for Toledo. He threw for over 7,000 yards and ran for nearly 2,000 with over 85 career touchdowns. He started 32 times in his career and holds a 23-9 record as a starter. Finn was the 2023 Mid-American Conference MVP – the first at Toledo since 2017.

Baylor begins its 2024 season at home on Aug. 31 against Tarleton with kickoff set for 6 p.m. The Bears were 3-9 last season and haven’t posted a winning record since winning the Big 12 in 2021.
