The portal never sleeps. UTSA landed former four-star defensive lineman Johnny Bowens III from Oregon on Friday. An Under Armour All-American in the class of 2023, Bowens was a two-time first team all-district performer at Converse Judson

Bowens, at 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, will most likely play defensive tackle for the Roadrunners. UTSA has two 300-pound tackles in Brandon Brown and Joe Evans, both of whom earned Third Team All-American Athletic Conference last season. But Bowens will be a key depth add, especially after Nick Booker-Brown was suspended indefinitely from the team for aggravated robbery.

Story Update on July 24: UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor and Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Lisa Campos announced via joint statement on July 24 that Nick Booker-Brown and redshirt freshman linebacker Corey Lucius Jr. were no longer with UTSA's football program after their arrests for aggravated robbery.
