Kaufman boasts a standout wide receiver in Aljour Miles II, a 2026 prospect who nearly donned a different jersey when he moved to Texas from California two years ago.

"We were initially going to move to Forney, but our house got outbid, and we moved here (to Kaufman), and it has been amazing," Miles said. 

Miles arrived in Texas with extensive flag football experience but had never played tackle football before joining the Lions.

"Kaufman football was my first experience with tackle football, and it has been amazing. The way they operate and the standards they have are great things to be a part of," he said.

Miles quickly adapted to Texas high school football, enjoying a breakout sophomore season under Kaufman Head Coach Jeramy Burleson. "Aljour is a fine young student-athlete with tons of talent," Burleson said of his star receiver, who recorded 58 receptions for 971 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2023. 

Standing at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Miles impresses with his physical attributes. He runs a 4.55 40-yard dash and boasts a 38.4-inch vertical jump. An academic all-district selection, he epitomizes the term student-athlete with a 4.0 GPA.

When asked about NFL stars he admires, Miles said, "I like DK Metcalf a lot. I try to model my game after him, but I try to mix in a little bit of everyone, like Tyreek Hill or Davante Adams. I try to throw all of that in there."

Oklahoma, led by Passing Game Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach Emmett Jones, was the first program to offer Miles a scholarship, marking a significant recruiting milestone. 

"It was pretty exciting," Miles said of the P4-level opportunity. "I was just proud because it has been a dream for a long time, and for it to come quicker than I thought was a great feeling."

Since then, Miles has secured five additional scholarship offers from North Texas, Texas State, UTEP, UTSA, and Tulsa.

"I have a lot of learning to do," Miles explained. "I have written a couple of research papers on some schools. I am not trying to rush through it. I am trying to take my time and evaluate all of my options. I have plenty of time."
