Texas defensive tackle and DeSoto product Byron Murphy II was drafted 16th overall by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2024 NFL Draft. He was the first player from a Texas program selected in this year’s draft.
A four-star talent coming out of high school, Murphy finished his Texas career winning Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year and being named first-team All-Texas selection.
