Texas's bout with defending national champion Michigan will kick off at 11:00 a.m. in Ann Arbor as part of FOX's Big Noon Kickoff, the university has announced.
It's only the second-ever meeting between two of college football's winningist programs. Michigan is first with 1,004 wins, while Texas is fourth with 948. The Longhorns won the last matchup in the 2005 Rose Bowl, a thrilling 38-37 victory on Dusty Mangum's last-second field goal after Texas quarterback Vince Young totaled 372 yards and five touchdowns.
Nearly two decades later, the schools have once again reached the height of the sport coming off College Football Playoff berths. Michigan, however, will be under the direction of new head coach Sherrone Moore, who served as the program's offensive coordinator and acting head coach for three games last year while previous head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended. He inherits a team that needs to replace five all-conference offensive lineman, quarterback JJ McCarthy, running back Blake Corum and three of its top four tacklers.
