Daingerfield offensive coordinator Seth Hubbard has been named the new athletic director/head football coach at Kirbyville High School, Kirbyville CISD announced on Thursday.  

Hubbard takes over for Trey Allen, who departed in mid-February to take over as AD/HFC at Class 4A Navasota.

Hubbard, who has spent the last three years as Daingerfield’s offensive coordinator, comes from a coaching background as his father Donald Hubbard spent 18 seasons as a head coach at Garrison, Frankston, Grapeland, Shepherd, Beckville and San Augustine.

“[Daingerfield] Coach (Davin) Nelson is phenomenal. I’m a better coach and person because of him," Hubbard said. "I can’t put into words how important he is to me and my career. I’m forever in debt to him.

It’s funny Coach Nelson told me at some point, the bird has to get kicked out of the nest and spread his wings. The last three years have been phenomenal and it wasn’t easy to tell those kids. But they were happy for me and that just means a lot. I’ll forever love those kids and Daingerfield."

In addition to his three seasons at Daingerfield, Hubbard spent time as an assistant coach at Woodville, Alto, Tatum, Tyler Chapel Hill and San Augustine.

“When Coach (Jack) Alvarez was at Kirbyville he had that thing rolling and even since then they’ve had pretty consistent winning," Hubbard said. "Coach Allen did a fantastic job and we want to build off what he’s build. Going through the process the people there were great it never felt like an interview, it just felt right. I had interviewed for the job previously so I had a good feel for the community and what they were looking for and it’s a great situation for my wife and kids and the support is there to be a success."

Hubbard plans to start at Kirbyville on Monday.
