Tarleton will enter the 2024 football season with its third offensive coordinator in three seasons after sources confirmed to Dave Campbell's Texas Football that Mason Miller is headed to Baylor to become the next offensive line coach. The news was first reported by Will Turboff at 247Sports.

Miller arrived in Stephenville in January 2023 after spending three seasons as offensive line coach and run game coordinator for Mississippi State under former head coach Mike Leach. Last season was Miller’s second stint on Todd Whitten’s staff at Tarleton. He was offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Texans from 2014-2016.

Tarleton’s offense excelled under Miller last season. The Texans averaged 33 points per game last season, the highest for the program during its NCAA Division I era. Tarleton’s offense averaged 430.5 yards per game, highlighted by a potent rushing attack that averaged 201.7 yards per game and scored 25 touchdowns.

The Marietta, Ga. native has an extensive history in FBS, having spent time at Washington State, Nevada, and New Mexico State during his career. Miller spent five seasons at McMurry and was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach for the 2013 season.

Miller inherits a Bears offensive line that struggled to run the football last season. Baylor’s offense averaged 114.8 yards rushing per game en route to a 3-9 season overall and a 2-7 record in the Big 12 Conference.
