Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian will become the third-highest paid coach in college football when the board of regents approves his new contract extension. Sarkisian, who enters his fourth season on the Forty Acres in 2024, will make more than $10 million per year according to terms of the deal released by the school. 

Sarkisian made $5.6 million in 2023 when his Longhorns won the Big 12 and reached the College Football Playoffs for the first time in program history. He was set to make $5.8 million in 2024 before the extension. He’ll now make $10.3 million in 2024 with a $100,000 annual raise through the 2030 season. 

The contract is expected to be approved by the board in an upcoming regent meeting on Feb. 21. Sarkisian is also in line for performance incentives that could total $1.825 million annually if the Longhorns win the national championship and hit other goals. Assistants Kyle Flood, Jeff Banks, and Pete Kwiatkowski are also due for contract extensions that are expected to be approved by the board on Feb. 21.
