Four years ago, elite Lewisville 2025 offensive tackle Michael Fasusi had never even heard of football, let alone wanted to make a career out of it. 

Hailing from Nigeria, Fasusi was more used to the original “football,” having played soccer as his first sport. But things quickly changed when he moved to Texas.

“I played a little bit (of football), I was kind of forced to,” Fasusi said. “Eighth grade, shoot, (I was) 6-foot-2. I was a stick, though. I was skinny.”

Quickly, Fasusi adapted to the gridiron. In ninth grade, he played both defensive end and offensive line but admitted he was far away from being the fifth ranked player in the state, according to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

“I didn’t know what I was doing,” Fasusi said. “I would come off my stance and every play was holding. I didn’t know what a penalty was, too.”

Fasusi was ready to call it quits on football in pursuit of basketball, having already grown to the size of an NBA shooting guard. If it weren’t for the help of Lewisville head coach Michael Odle, Fasusi may have never continued.

When Odle took over as the Fighting Farmers’ head coach, he made Fasusi a surprising offer - a spot on the varsity team. 

“I say he did some magic on me,” Fasusi said. “He had a great impact on my life over football and outside of football.”

Two years later, Fasusi is one of the best players in the country. Ranked as the No. 2 offensive lineman and a top five player in the state, Fasusihas already amassed 36 offers from D1 colleges, with his eyes set on one conference in particular. 

“I’m not going to tell what school I’m going to, but I’m definitely going to the SEC,” Fasusi said. “That’s where the best of them are at, the SEC.”

Fasusi is currently 6-6 and 300 pounds, but intends on playing in college closer to 315. With a huge frame and lean body, Fasusi bullies players at the line of scrimmage. Even though he is stellar in the passing game, where Fasusi excels, and his love, is in the running game.

“I really love run blocking,” Fasusi said. “I think football is really for anger management. When I get up in that stance, something turns me crazy.”

Fasusi specifically mentioned interest in schools like Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri and Florida, but has his eyes set specifically on what a school can do for his future.

“Number one (concern) is definitely education. I wanna go somewhere where a degree is going to be useful,” Fasusi said. “I want to go somewhere where I’m going to come in as a boy and leave as a grown ass man.”

Fasusi intends to announce his top 10 schools in late February, likely filled with some of the best the SEC has to offer.

Even though he’s already a top-five recruit, standing head and shoulders ahead of the pack, Fasusi still has a lot to learn with one more year of college. The sky's the limit for the big tackle from Nigeria.
