The Texas Longhorns continued to reload through the Transfer Portal for their first season as SEC members by adding Alabama linebacker Kendrick Blackshire and Oregon State wide receiver Silas Bolden.
The duo brings the Texas transfer total to six players, joining Isaiah Bond (Alabama), Matthew Golden (Houston), Trey Moore (UTSA), and Andrew Mukuba (Clemson). Texas signed 22 players from high school in a 2024 recruiting class that ranked third in the nation.
The 6-foot-2, 245-pound Blackshire was a four-star recruit with a bodybuilder’s physique when he chose Alabama after graduating from Duncanville High School in south Dallas. Blackshire will have one year left of eligibility when he arrives on the Forty Acres. He registered 25 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in his three years with the Crimson Tide.
Bolden chose Texas over reported interest from Washington and USC. He caught 54 passes for 746 yards as a junior for Oregon State. He played most of his snaps in the slot position. Texas needs a new slot after the graduation of Jordan Whittington. Texas lost its top five receivers from the 2023 team.
