Texas A&M is back in search of a major figure, this time it is for an athletic director after news broke that is taking the same gig at Ohio State. Ross Bjork, 51, arrived at Texas A&M from Ole Miss in 2019 to become Texas A&M’s fourth athletic director since 2012, following Bill Byrne, Eric Hyman, and Scott Woodard in the role.
Bjork’s tenure will be remembered for the extension given to former head coach Jimbo Fisher, which resulted in a record-breaking $76 million dollar buy out following the 2023 season. He helped the Aggies hire new head coach Mike Elko from Duke in December.
The turnover at athletic director and head coach is reflected at the university president position, as well. Texas A&M hired General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III as full-time university president in December of 2023. He will be the third person to hold the title since Jan. 1, 2021.
