Austin Westlake (11-0) vs. San Antonio Reagan (11-0), 7:30 p.m. Friday at Seguin’s Matador Stadium: It’s a battle of unbeatens down in the San Antonio area as Austin Westlake looks to continue its reign over Region IV as the Chaparrals tangle with the latest contender from the Alamo City, an unbeaten San Antonio Reagan squad that’s mostly flown under the radar in 2023.

Westlake’s defense was dominant last week in its 35-3 win over Round Rock. Sophomore QB Rees Wise threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another score to pace the Westlake offense, while the always stout WHS defense allowed a first quarter field goal and nothing else in the victory.

Reagan had no trouble last week in an easy 55-21 win over San Antonio East Central. The Rattlers rolled up 507 yards of offense as Texas State QB commit Brad Jackson tossed five touchdown passes, four of which went to Jeter Battles. The Rattlers also had a pair of 100-yard rushers as Cole Pryor and Wallace Coleman combined for 220 yards on the ground.

Westlake’s playoff pedigree is among the state’s best, and its feasted on teams from San Antonio in this latest run. Reagan’s tough defense keeps them in it for a half, but Westlake pulls away in the second half with RB Jack Kayser being the key cog to wear the Rattlers down.
