Quinn Ewers will start for the Longhorns against TCU in Week 11, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian announced Thursday on a Zoom press conference with media. Ewers, a redshirt sophomore, exited the game in a Week 8 win over Houston with an injury to his throwing shoulder and missed Week 9 and Week 10 wins over BYU and Kansas State, respectively. Maalik Murphy started for Ewers the past two weeks.
Ewers was 6-1 as a starter for the Longhorns in 2023 prior to the injury. He’s completed 70.8 percent of his passes for 1,915 yards and 13 touchdowns to five interceptions. He threw for at least 300 yards in three of his seven starts this season. Texas, ranked seventh in the latest College Football Playoff ranking, heads to Fort Worth for a 6:30 p.m. showdown with the TCU Horned Frogs in Week 11.
Sark also mentioned that safeties Jalen Catalon and Kitan Crawford will also be available to play this week.
