LD Bell 2024 DL Tristan Johnson (6'4, 260) was set to play for UTSA in college until he got an offer from TCU, a school he dreamed of playing for growing up right down the road from the defending Big 12 champs.
"It was definitely a dream school for me growing up, especially since they’re close to home and are a winning program that competes every year," Johnson said.
On top of that, their academics are amazing, and graduating and getting a degree from there would be very significant later on in life. I’m blessed to have the opportunity to attend a great school that is close by to my family and gives them the opportunity to attend games. With that being said, it means a ton to me."
Johnson, who also had offers from schools like Harvard, Arizona State, and Nebraska, is a student-athlete with Ivy League grades and an unmatched work ethic, per LD Bell head coach T.J. Dibble.
"I don't know if anyone in our program has worked as hard as he has in the weight room and his commitment to being great," Dibble said. "This last offseason, he had a tremendous offseason. He dedicated himself in the weight room during the period and was a great teammate and leader, and nobody outworked him. And because of that, he created value and opportunities for himself, and people started to take notice."
