Laredo United South (2-5) at Laredo Alexander (4-3)
7 p.m. Friday at Bill Johnson Student Activity Center
The District 30-6A race will begin to take shape in Week 9 as United ISD rivals take aim at one another as United South takes on Alexander in Laredo. Alexander's off to a terrific start in district play with wins over Eagle Pass and LBJ, setting itself in the catbird seat to at least challenge United for the district title. After some early hiccups, the offense has settled in thanks to running back Gael Rodriguez and QB Javi Jimenez. United South bounced back well from its district opening loss to United, taking down Del Rio thanks to a grinding rushing attack that averaged more than 6 yards per carry. It'll be up to QB David Gonzalez and RB Carlos Segovia to get the South attack — which has been inconsistent this year — going in this crtiical district showdown.
