Odessa Permian (3-3) at Midland Legacy (5-1)
7 p.m. Friday at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland
One of Texas high school football’s most famous rivalries will tee it up for a 66th time in front of what will no-doubt be a raucous crowd in the Tall City on Friday night. Legacy is fresh off a wild 63-56 win over previously unbeaten Wolfforth Frenship, and the offense is in full stride thanks to quarterback Marcos Davila (a Purdue commit) and a slew of playmakers like running back Damien Johnson and receiver Aiden Serrano. Permian is anxious to put last week’s disappointing upset loss to rival Odessa behind them, and hope that running back Juzstyce Lara can lead a resurgent MOJO attack. Permian leads the all-time series 41-23-1, but Legacy has won the last two. One thing is for sure: this is one of those rivalries where the record books hardly seem to matter.
