Word leaked out that Beaumont United 2024 OT Weston Davis (6'5, 285) would be taking an official visit to Texas for the Longhorns matchup versus Kansas, but Davis announced on social media that he has had a change of heart.
"I will not be going on a visit to Texas," Davis emphasized.
Davis committed to Texas A&M over offers from Texas, Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma.
The four-star is rated the No. 21 prospect in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100 and is described by Beaumont United Head Coach Darrell Colbert as having a "huge upside."
Scouting Report: With a multi-sport background in basketball and football, Davis possesses a high upside for development. Despite only playing two years of football, he shows promising signs of growth. His good length and agility make him an effective protector on the perimeter, although he occasionally plays with a high stance. Davis can move defenders at the point of attack when he lowers his center of gravity. Currently, he is more proficient in the passing game; he must enhance his aggressiveness to become a more dominant run-blocking force. As he has gained experience, Davis has improved his initial burst off the line, refined hand usage, and punch violence. While he can still work on playing lower, he displays good technique in executing pass sets and mirroring pass rushers when isolated. He is starting to scratch the surface of his potential and could project as a high NFL draft pick if he continues on the same trajectory in College Station.
Did You Know? Davis is the nephew of former Lamar basketball standout B.B. Davis, who was a four-time all-conference selection.
