Week Two, baby. The rust is knocked off, the non-district slate is essentially halfway over for most schools and teams are starting to take on their identity. It's still early in the year, but there were plenty of athlets who looked like they were in mid-season form. Here's the DCTF crew's top takeaways from this past weekend.

Aledo offense goes bezerk in shootout victory over Denton Guyer

Name: Hauss Hejny | School: Aledo | Class: 2024 | Pos: QB | Ht: 6'0 | Wt: 185

The TCU commit had the most impressive performance I witnessed this weekend, leading the Bearcats to a 48-45 win over Guyer. Hejny completed 15 of 20 passes (75%) for 252 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 135 yards. While Hejny does not possess the physical traits you most commonly see on the first day of the NFL Draft, he has everything you want in a top QB, including tremendous pocket poise, leadership, and command of the offense. Hejny has a quick release, the arm strength to fit the ball into tight spaces, and is a dangerous runner. - Greg Powers

Name: Raycine Guillory | School: Aledo | Class: 2026 | Pos.: RB | HT: 5'10 | WT: 170

The future of the Aledo program is in the hands of this talented sophomore running back who is at his best when he can get to the edge of the defense, and it looks like he is on skis as he seamlessly dodges in and out of traffic. He showed off his toughness between the tackles around the goal line and seemed to get stronger as the game progressed. Guillory finished with 29 carries for 137 yards and four TDs. - Greg Powers

Name: Hawk Patrick-Daniels | School: Aledo | Class: 2024 | Pos.: ATH | HT: 5'9 | WT: 165

UIW seems to be getting a steal in this multi-functional offensive weapon, who was promoted to a DCTF three-star prospect after averaging hauling in three passes for 93 yards (31 YPC) and a TD. Last season, Patrick-Daniels showed his worth as a running back, racking up over 1,400 yards and 20 TDs. His evolution as a pass-catcher adds tremendous value to his profile, and his production as a receiver will be integral to the Bearcat's state title aspirations. Let's call him a "slot-back" for his college projection. - Greg Powers

A bevy of defensive standouts in Aledo vs. Denton Guyer matchup

Name: Davhon Keys | School: Aledo | Class: 2024 | Pos.: OLB | HT: 6'0 | WT: 205

Keys is an athletic linebacker who spends time on both sides of the football (LB/RB). The LSU commit scored a touchdown on offense and had a game-changing sack on a third down in the second half. - Greg Powers

Name: Carson Dempsey  | School: Aledo | Class: 2026 | Pos.: EDGE | HT: 6'2 | WT: 225
A high-effort edge presence is someone to put on the radar. Thick frame and strog at the point of attack. He struggled early to get off of blocks, but his play progressed throughout the game, and he made several huge defensive plays, including a hard-hitting sack in the second quarter. - Greg Powers

Name: Eli Bowen | School: Denton Guyer | Class: 2024 | Pos.: CB | HT: 5'9 | WT: 180

The Oklahoma commit is a shutdown corner. He can cover, and he will hit. I do not anticipate teams to test him much, and understandably so. He is not the biggest player on the field, far from it, but he seems like he is, and that's all that matters. I will give him my highest compliment -- he's a football-playing dude. -  Greg Powers

Name: Khyren Haywood | School: Denton Guyer | Class: 2027 | Pos.: DT | HT: 6'1 | WT: 250

You'd better go ahead and get to know this kid's name! Haywood already looks like a high-profile recruit and worked with the second-team defensive line unit on a team stacked up with talent on the defensive front, including meaningful snaps down the stretch when the game was on the line. He is powerful at the point of attack and plays with excellent pad level. I walked away impressed with this talent, and it will be soon that all the top colleges come calling with offers. - Greg Powers

Guyer passing game shines in Week 2 thriller

Name: Josiah Martin | School: Denton Guyer | Class: 2024 | Pos.: WR | HT: 5'10 | WT: 170

Heading into the game, I was looking forward to the match-up that the DCTF four-star would have with the Aledo secondary, which boasts two P5-level cornerback commits. Martin was as advertised. He was constantly open, racking up seven receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Martin is an impressive receiver because he is so well-rounded. He is a quick-twitch route-runner who possesses game-changing ability as a deep ball winner. Boston College currently has the steal of the recruiting cycle in Martin. - Greg Powers

Name: Corbin Glasco | School: Denton Guyer | Class: 2026 | Pos.: WR | HT: 5'8 | WT: 165

Glasco is an exciting young slot wide receiver with tremendous burst and good top-end speed. He took over the game in the second half, ultimately hauling in 10 receptions for 146 yards and two TDs. While he is a young varsity player, he has a stout frame. Glasco logged a 4.36 40-yard dash at the North Texas camp this summer. - Greg Powers

Name: Zane Rowe | School: Denton Guyer | Class: 2027 | Pos.: TE/DE | HT: 6'4 | WT: 220

This up-and-comer already has 19 offers, including TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Nebraska, Oregon and more. His size and frame jumped out instantly in the pre-game warmups. I saw him at the UC Report camp in the early spring, and his time in the Guyer weight room with Kyle Keese has paid dividends, as he has added at least 10-15 pounds to an already impressive frame. He already looks like an upperclassman. He has picked up some offers as a tight end, but both of my Rowe evaluations have come exclusively at defensive end, where he has a Top 10 ceiling in his class. If he's even better at TE, watch out. - Greg Powers

Ennis QB/WR duo can't be bottled up

Name: Gracen Harris | School: Ennis | Class: 2025 | Pos.: WR | HT: 5'10 | WT: 170

The Oklahoma commit is lightning in a bottle. Midlothian did everything in its power to limit his touches, so Ennis got creative in ways to get him the ball. The DCTF four-star is quick in and out of his breaks and can make defenders miss tackles in tight quarters. Harris had three catches for 62 yards and was tripped up just short of scoring a long TD by a shoelace tackle - Greg Powers

Name: Wondame Davis, Jr. | School: Ennis | Class: 2024 | Pos: ATH | HT: 6'1 | WT: 175

Davis, who holds offers from Texas State, Louisiana Tech and Sam Houston plays QB at Ennis, but could move positions in college due to elite athleticism. Davis threw for 69 yards, but added 81 yards on the ground and two touchdowns, showing off the ability to break tackles and pull away from defenders with angles in the open field. - Matt Stepp

Bridgeland dominates in the trenches

Name: Jonte Newman | School: Bridgeland | Class: 2025 | Pos.: OL | HT: 6'5 | WT: 280

Newman is a rising star in the Class of 2025, he holds offers from several high-profile programs who love his upside as an athletic tackle at 6'5 280. He showed glimpses of that potential Saturday tangling with a good Katy Tompkins front seven. - Matt Stepp

Name: Omar Khan | School: Bridgeland | Class: 2024 | Pos.: DE | HT: 6'4 | WT: 270

Khan, who is committed to Washington plays on end in Bridgeland's odd front and it appears to be a good fit scheme wise. He holds up well in the run game and is able to take on and shed blocks with ease. - Matt Stepp

Katy Tompkins' front seven is stout

Name: Eduwa Okundaye | School: Katy Tompkins | Class: 2024 | Pos.: DE | HT: 6'3 | WT: 220

Okundaye is a classic edge rusher who displayed outstanding athleticism chasing down plays to the sidelines multiple times, he also showed how disruptive he can be by using his quickness to get into the backfield causing multiple pressures on Bridgeland's two QB's in Saturday night's game. - Matt Stepp

Name: Ashton Funk | School: Katy Tompkins | Class: 2024 | Pos.: OL | HT: 6'6 | WT: 295

The Texas A&M commit is an old school downhill offensive tackle who plays with a nasty streak. He fared well in one-on-one matchups with Bridgeland's DE Omar Khan and showed nimble feet when pulling. - Matt Stepp

Name: Rhys Phillips | School: Katy Tompkins | Class: 2024 | Pos.: TE | HT: 6'3 | WT: 235

The Rice commit is listed as a TE, but he lined up on the outside quite a bit as well on Saturday night. He has five catches for 62 yards showing soft hands and good route running, he also did a solid job with his hand on the ground blocking at the point of attack. - Matt Stepp

A couple high-flying running backs make noise

Name: Caleb Blocker | School: Katy Tompkins | Class: 2024 | Pos.: RB | HT: 5'9 | WT: 185

The Army commit had a monster night for Tompkins in their 41-35 loss to Bridgeland Saturday with 216 yards rushing and four touchdowns, along with a receiving touchdown. Blocker runs tough inside the tackles, has great balance and enough open field speed to get the job done. - Matt Stepp

Name: Daniel Bray | School: Abilene Cooper | Class: 2025 | Pos.: RB | HT: 5'10 | WT: 170

Bray, who holds offers from Texas Tech, Iowa, North Texas and UTSA ran for 85 yards on fifteen carries and had one catch for seven yards in Cooper's 26-7 loss to Abilene. The junior back gets from zero to sixty in a hurry and is elusive in short spaces, he was a shoe-string tackle away from breaking a pair of long touchdown runs. - Matt Stepp

Name: Bryant Wesco | School: Midlothian | Class: 2024 | Pos.: WR | HT: 6'2 | WT: 175

The Clemson commit led Midlothian to their first win of the year Thursday night over Ennis. Wesco caught seven passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns, most of his damage was done on screens and stop routes, where his elite short area quickness and elusiveness proved to be deadly weapons. - Matt Stepp

Name: Brayden Henry | School: Abilene | Class: 2026 | Pos.: ATH | HT: 5'9 | WT: 160

Henry is a track phenom who burst on the scene as a freshman leading Abilene to the regional semifinals a year ago and picking up a Texas Tech offer in the process. He split time at QB and WR and still appears to be finding his groove after battling injuries much of the off-season. He had seven carries for 30 yards and one reception for four yards, a couple of longer runs were called back due to holding and he showed flashes of elite speed and elusiveness in the open field. - Matt Stepp

Name: Ryland Bradford | School: Abilene | Class: 2025 | Pos.: WR | HT: 6'0 | WT: 180

Bradford who had over 700 yards receiving as a sophomore, impressed this summer during 7on7 for Abilene High and has continued that fast rise through two weeks of the season. Bradford had six catches for 113 yards and a touchdown in Abilene's 26-7 win on Friday. Bradford showed good hands making tough third down catches in traffic, then hauled in an 81-yard catch and run touchdown on a deep in, where he shed a tackle with good lower body strength and then outraced the secondary for the score. - Matt Stepp

Byron Nelson rolls to second-straight blowout victory

Name: Tom von Grote | School: Byron Nelson | Class: 2024 | Pos.: QB | HT: 6'3 | WT: 195

Byron Nelson's starting quarterback waited for his shot behind Jake Wilson. With Wilson off to Purdue, the 6-foot-3 senior is piloting a vaunted Byron Nelson offense with precision. Von Grote is currently posting a staggering completion percentage of nearly 80 percent while the Bobcats have posted 54 and 63 points in his first two varsity starts. When they're not watching UFC pay-per-views together, he's working out with his wideouts on their own time to light up secondaries.

He currently has no offers but flashes prototypical size, a smooth throwing motion along with football IQ and the passing accuracy to play at the next level.

Name: Ashton Williams | School: Byron Nelson | Class: 2024 | Pos.: DB | HT: 6'0 | WT: 195

Williams is a physical safety who has the versatility to play in the box, cover one-on-one or fit in run support and make the tackle. He's part of a Byron Nelson defense that flies around the football and has only surrendered just 16 points in the first two games. He's a part of an 11-man Tulsa recruiting class that currently holds eight commits from the state of Texas.  - Carter Yates

Ruben Tshilombo, I was unfamiliar with your game. The senior practically made camp in McKinney Boyd's backfield on Thursday night. He posted a two sacks, well on the way achieving his season goal of eight quarterback takedowns, and had four tackles for loss. A former running back up until his sophomore season, Tshilombo has morphed into a game wrecker for Byron Nelson's defense. He's a big-time energy guy who plays with a noticeable excitment level. - Carter Yates
