Jasper 2024 ILB Ty'Anthony Smith (6'2, 205) committed to Texas A&M over offers from Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma and USC.
"They have a great history and they can develop you as a player, but also as a person and get a great degree," Smith said. "And they have potential. They have some real young guys that came in and played as freshmen. And that is a real big thing to me, too. Opportunity."
Smith is close personal friends with Silsbee five-star WR Dre'lon Miller, who also committed to TAMU on Thursday.
The four-star prospect checks in at No. 18 in the 2024 DCTF Rising Hot 100, the No. 1-rated ILB in the state.
Smith was the LB MVP at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Houston.

Smith demonstrates solid flexibility and exhibits remarkable speed on the field, utilizing his hands skillfully to disengage from blocks and pursue the ball carrier. His quick reaction time allows him to close in swiftly on the ball and deliver physically imposing tackles.
Smith times his blitzes effectively, penetrating the offensive line to disrupt plays. Strengthening his already well-built frame would be beneficial for his role as an inside linebacker, though he also possesses the potential to excel as an outside linebacker.
