Plenty of hype surrounds Ashton Cartwright’s teammate, but maybe it’s time to start paying attention to the rising senior himself.

Don’t feel bad if you hadn’t heard Cartwright’s name till now, you likely will hear it more this fall playing opposite of Dre’lon Miller on the Silsbee offense. While his five-star teammate also starred in the Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament, Cartwright flashed his own speed and soft hands.

Currently, the 2024 wideout holds just a Prairie View A&M offer and attended their Junior Day back in March but he told TexasFootball.com that he’s hearing interest from Louisiana, Texas A&M, Texas Southern and Texas Tech. His recruitment took a bit of a hit when he couldn’t utilize the camp circuit during spring due to a foot injury. He used the spring and summer to rehab his foot and was fully functioning in College Station where Silsbee made a run to the Division II state semifinal.

A level-headed senior, Cartwright knows where he needs to improve – the weight room.

“I’m trying to get bigger, stronger and be efficient with my routes and make it better to get on the field and dominate,” Cartwright said.

Per 247Sports, he’s listed at 6-foot, 175 pounds.

This fall, his numbers will surely jump from his 616 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 2022. He says when opposing teams key-in on Miller, it provides him motivation to flash his explosive speed and route-running.

“It helps me a lot, sometimes I’ll be gassed, and he’ll just do him,” Cartwright said. “I love my brother. It’s like a connection with us on the field.”
