Defending champion DeSoto wasn’t able to make it a repeat performance like Hitchcock in Division II and Miles in Division III, but the Eagles had a solid run making it to the quarterfinals on Saturday before falling to Coppell in a close one, 25-21.

A&M Consolidated, who lost in the title game to Round Rock, has made quite the habit of making deep runs in the state tournament. The Tigers lost in the title game in 2018 and won the title in 2019; they were consistently strong in the tournament posting a 6-2 mark.
PSJA North did the Rio Grande Valley proud as the Raiders made the quarterfinals as they make the deepest push into the championship bracket for a Valley school in the history of the tournament. The Raiders notched a pair of wins Saturday morning over DFW teams Haslet Eaton and Arlington Lamar before falling to eventual champion Round Rock, 28-13, in the quarterfinals.
Arlington ISD had a good tournament with all three of their teams making the championship bracket - Lamar lost in the round of 32, Arlington got to the round of 16 and Seguin made the semifinals.

Byron Nelson was a tough-luck third place team; the Bobcats finished 2-1 on Thursday but lost out on a three-way tie. They rolled to the consolation bracket title with a 5-0 mark and a dominant 25-0 win over Alvin Shadow Creek in the consolation championship game.
