McKinney North 2024 TE Nate Markiewicz (6'5, 240) committed to UTSA over offers from North Texas, Missouri, Arkansas State and Memphis.

"I put UTSA above the others because of their coaching staff," Markiewicz exclaimed. "Coach (Jeff) Traylor is probably one of the best coaches I’ve met before. He has it going on. UTSA has a culture like no other. They all got respect for each other.

"I built a really good relationship with the OC and TE coach (Justin Burke), coach (Hunter) Rittiman, and a few assistants. A big part about UTSA is they make you feel wanted, and that’s something I’m big on."

Did You Know?

Before Nate was the first-team all-district tight end fielding multiple Division I football offers, his brothers were leading the Bulldogs’ 2019 team to their first outright district title in school history. Dillon, a quarterback, earned District MVP honors after tossing for over 4,000 yards and a school-record 45 touchdowns before signing to play at Syracuse. Austin, a center, was a first-team all-district selection, snapping to his twin in the shotgun. The two are now reunited at Texas State.

Markiewicz’s polished game at tight end is a product of his family. After years of running routes at home for his quarterback brother, he can line up at Upback or even split out wide and catch any ball on the route tree. Then, he can get down in a three-point stance and channel Austin’s aggression and technique as a run blocker for McKinney North’s 2,183-yard rusher, Jayden Walker.
